Sponsored listings

Why there are sponsored listings

Jetty Hop is free for boaters. To keep it that way, pubs, restaurants, marinas, hire companies and other local businesses can support the guide with a sponsored listing.

Our rules

  1. Always labelled. A sponsored listing always carries the label “Ad · Sponsored” (“Anzeige · Gesponsert” in German, “Publicité” in French, “Advertentie” in Dutch), wherever it appears, with a link that explains why you see it.
  2. Safety and mooring information is never for sale. Moorings, access, services, lock times, weather warnings, water levels and safety notes never depend on payment, and nobody can pay to change or hide them. A featured listing never appears above them.
  3. Everyone keeps a basic listing. Businesses that don’t pay keep their basic listing with the same facts.
  4. Same checks for everyone. Sponsored listings go through the same checks as every other listing and show the same “checked” status.
  5. No paid reviews. We don’t sell opinions, ratings or “recommended” badges.
  6. Partner links are labelled. When a booking link earns us a commission, it is labelled “Partner link”.
  7. Separate from public data. Sponsorship has nothing to do with Fáilte Ireland, OpenStreetMap or any other data source, and never suggests that they endorse a business.
  8. Our own marketplace is labelled too. The boats, engines and parts for sale come from buz.ie, the Irish classifieds marketplace, which is run by the same team as Jetty Hop. These blocks carry the label “Our marketplace” instead of “Ad · Sponsored”, so you always know whose they are, and they never appear on the map.

How listings are ordered is explained on How we rank listings.

What sponsors get

A featured listing can show more photos, an offer, a menu, events and live-music nights, and may appear first in its section of a stop. What is offered and what it costs is explained on the page For businesses.
