About Knockferry Pier
Knockferry lies on the west shore at the narrowest point of Lough Corrib, the strait that links the lake's two basins: the smaller, shallower lower lake to the south and the larger, deeper upper lake to the north. Kilbeg Pier faces it directly across the water, and people on both shores long hoped that a bridge would be built here. Fáilte Ireland lists Knockferry among the public quays and slipways of the upper Corrib. Come through the narrows slowly and keep to the marks, because the lake hides many rocks just under the surface. Inland, by road, Brigit's Garden at Rosscahill has eleven acres of Celtic-themed gardens and woodland with a café, open from Wednesday to Sunday.

- Fishing
Brown trout and salmon angling
Lough Corrib is wild brown trout and salmon water: the salmon season opens on 1 February, trout on 15 February, and both close on 30 September. Fáilte Ireland suggests a local guide for a first visit, because of the lake's size and its underwater hazards.
