About Rosscor Viaduct
At Rosscor the lough closes in and the Erne becomes a river again for the final few kilometres to Belleek. Here an eight-span road viaduct carries a link road between the A46 and the A47 across the water. It was built of precast concrete in 1922; after part of the roadway was demolished in the 1970s, it reopened in the 1980s with a short section of Bailey bridge in its northern span. Every boat bound for Belleek passes beneath it, but we have found no published clearance for the spans, so check your hire company’s chart, keep to the marked passage and take it slowly. DfI Rivers reads the level of Lower Lough Erne at its Rosscor gauge, one of the three stations on its daily Lough Erne levels page.
