About Magho jetty

The Cliffs of Magho run for about 9 km along the south side of the Broad Lough, a limestone escarpment that forms the northern edge of Lough Navar Forest. At their foot, beside the Loughshore Road, there is a public jetty with toilets at the small car park, and this is the boater’s way up to the Magho viewpoint. The Magho Cliffs Walk climbs about 2.5 km through woodland to the top of the 300 m cliffs; it is graded difficult, so allow time and wear proper shoes. From the top you look along the whole lough to the Sperrins in the east, the Blue Stacks of Donegal to the north and Slieve League, Donegal Bay and the Atlantic to the west. The cliffs shelter a moss found nowhere else in the UK. They face north-north-west across the open lough, so check the wind before you tie up here.
