About Ballyduff Lock
Ballyduff is the second lock of the descent towards the Erne and the first after the chain of small lakes below Castlefore. Waterways Ireland lists a slipway here, the only service at the lock, which makes it a handy launch point for small boats and canoes. It is also a trailhead: a Blueway walking and cycling path runs from Ballyduff along the water to Aghoo Bridge, past forest, farmland and a golf course. Paddlers can follow the canalised river for 3.6 km to Ballinamore marina in a little over an hour, a gentle stretch rated for beginners. By boat the town is only a short run away, with lock 6 just beyond its marina.
