About Lough Key Forest Park
The former Rockingham estate of the King family is now Lough Key Forest & Activity Park, run by Coillte, and its marina on the south shore is the lake’s main overnight stop. Visit Roscommon describes a 50-berth marina, and Waterways Ireland runs a service block with toilets, showers, a pump-out and shore power, all worked with the Smart Card; the Rockingham jetty was being redecked from January to the end of May 2026. The Lakeside Café in the visitor centre looks straight out at Castle Island. Ashore there is a 300 m tree canopy walk, the Moylurg viewing tower on the site of the burned-out house, old servants’ tunnels, the Boda Borg puzzle house and a campsite. Lough Key Boats runs one-hour tours on the 40-seat Trinity and rents rowing boats in summer, and a cycle path leads to Boyle.
