About Moyvalley
Moyvalley is a small village beside the canal, and Furey's is the reason most people stop. Furey's Bar & Restaurant is an old-style country bar with a cosy interior and an open fire in winter, serving everything from soup and sandwiches to main courses with daily specials and home-made chips; greenway walkers and cyclists have long made it a regular lunch stop. The canal here is in the middle of the long lock-free level between Ferns Lock and Thomastown, so there is no work to do but steering. A little further west, the Ribbontail footbridge, built so that people could cross the canal to Mass in Longwood, leads to a walkway into that village, and Longwood Harbour and the Boyne Aqueduct follow soon after. We have no information on moorings at Moyvalley itself.
