About Carrybridge

Carrybridge is named after the bridge that links the big island of Inishmore to the mainland, at the narrows where the Upper Lough begins to drain north towards Enniskillen. It is the most complete public stop on the lake: Waterways Ireland’s services list gives its jetties shore power, a pump-out, a slipway, toilets and showers. The RNLI’s Carrybridge station, opened in 2002 and given in 2015 the first building the charity put up specially for an inland lifeboat, keeps an Atlantic 85 inshore boat here. On Inishmore, Dixon’s family-run marina has more than 100 berths for private owners, and Carrybridge Boat Company offers servicing, repairs and a breakdown and recovery service across the Erne and the Shannon–Erne. The Lakeside Lodge by the bridge won planning permission in 2023 to be rebuilt as a 60-bedroom hotel with a new marina, so check what is open before planning a meal ashore.
