About Bellanaleck

Bellanaleck is a small village on the Erne about five miles south of Enniskillen, and for many hire crews it is where the holiday begins: Carrickcraft runs its Erne base from The Moorings on the Derrylin Road, and one-way cruises over the Shannon–Erne Waterway start here too. Waterways Ireland lists toilets, showers, a pump-out and a slipway at the public moorings. Beside the hire base, The Moorings Restaurant is a family-run place on the shore with weekend events through the year, and next door Tom Leonard Marine, in business since 1975, rents private moorings with power and water and lifts and repairs boats. A shop and a takeaway are about ten minutes’ walk away. Cleenish Island, which gives the local parish its name, is where excavations have dated a monastic enclosure to the 7th century; tradition makes it the school of St Sinell, teacher of Columbanus.
