About Drumleague Lock

Drumleague Lock is the second of the three locks on the Lough Allen Canal, some 2.5 km above Battlebridge in quiet farmland. It is keeper-operated during the Shannon lock hours and shares one phone line with Battlebridge and Drumshanbo, so if nobody is about, phone the canal lock-keeper (+353 71 964 1552 or +353 86 812 7522) instead of waiting at the gates. Like the other two, its chamber is 19.5 m long and 4 m wide. Above the lock the canal carries on under Drumhauver Bridge and opens into Acres Lake at Drumshanbo. The Shannon Blueway runs alongside, and the gentle Drumleague Lock loop, a 5 km circuit from Battlebridge, crosses the canal at the lock, so walkers and cyclists often stop to watch boats come through. Waterways Ireland lists no services here.
