About Kesh
Kesh takes its name from the Irish Ceis, a wicker bridge. Boats leave the lough and follow the narrow, tree-lined Kesh River for about a mile (1.6 km) to the village, where Manor House Marine advises mooring at the main jetty just before the road bridge. Waterways Ireland lists public toilets, showers and fresh water at the marina. The village has shops, a post office, a pharmacy, cash machines, pubs, cafés and takeaways, and there are coffee shops along the riverbank. A picnic area looks out over the lough, and a 3.5 km walk leads to the ruins of Crevenish Castle, home of the Blennerhassett and Maguire families in the 17th and 18th centuries. A private holiday-park marina lies on the lough shore nearby, and Muckross jetty and its beach are a short hop away.
