Notice: Out of use for works from 16 November 2026 for about three months: Waterways Ireland's winter closure notice lists upgrades to the lock's hydraulic and electrical operating systems and gives no reopening date (Marine Notice 112/2026), so ask the Lock 1 patroller (+44 28 6774 8976) before a February trip. Otherwise: self-operated with a Waterways Ireland Smart Card (1 unit a lock) at the console beside the lock. Lifejackets must be worn at the lock (Marine Notice 35/2026).

About Corraquill Lock

Corraquill is the last lock before the Erne, or the first for boats coming up from Fermanagh, and the only one of the sixteen on the Northern Ireland side of the border. The restored Shannon–Erne Waterway was officially opened here on 23 May 1994, after a cross-border rebuild that came in on time and within its £30 million budget. The small village of Teemore lies a short way to the north. From 16 November 2026 Waterways Ireland is upgrading the lock’s hydraulic and electrical systems, work expected to take about three months, so plan any winter trip to or from the Erne around it. The lock 1 patroller has a Northern Ireland number, +44 28 6774 8976. Aghalane is about 4 km downstream.
