About Galloon Island

Galloon is one of the two largest islands in Upper Lough Erne, at the southern end of the lake across the water from Crom. Its public jetty is one of the few service points on this part of the lough: Waterways Ireland lists toilets, showers and a pump-out here, though no shore power or slipway. The island’s old graveyard is said to stand on the site of a monastery founded by St Tiernan. Four high crosses once stood in it, and the shafts of two survive, their carved panels worn soft by the weather but still worth a close look.
