About Coleraine Bridge

The stone-arched town bridge carries the centre of Coleraine across the Bann and marks the upstream end of Coleraine Harbour Commissioners' area; above it the river is a Waterways Ireland navigation. Waterways Ireland gives an air draft of 4.2 m at zero on the Coleraine Harbour tide gauge and about 1.5 m at high water, the tightest fixed clearance between the sea and Lough Neagh. Boats with a mast or a high wheelhouse have to time the passage for low water, or lower the mast at Coleraine Marina, which has a mast-lowering facility. The navigable arches are marked by downward-pointing arrows and are open to traffic in both directions, so approach carefully and give way to anything already coming through. The harbour's visitor pontoons lie just below the bridge.
