About Coleraine Railway Bridge
The railway crosses the Bann on this lifting bridge between Coleraine Marina and the town pontoons. Translink staff operate it, and each lift depends on train movements controlled from Coleraine signal box: contact them on +44 28 7032 5400 or VHF channel 12, and give the harbour office as much notice of your arrival as you can. Waterways Ireland gives 7.0 m of clearance at zero on the Coleraine tide gauge; cruising guides put it at about 4.9 m at the highest tides, and a boat with more air draft than that needs a lift. Lifts can be restricted at short notice for maintenance or in strong winds, and Coleraine Harbour Commissioners publish these closures as local notices to mariners. Most visiting yachts simply stay at Coleraine Marina below the bridge.
