Mooring limit: 5 days in a row, 7 days a month

Public moorings on the Shannon Navigation and the Shannon–Erne Waterway: at the same public harbour for at most 5 days in a row, or 7 days in total in any month, all year round. A longer stay in winter (1 November to 31 March) needs a winter mooring from Waterways Ireland. Boater information from Waterways Ireland

About Garrykennedy

Garrykennedy is little more than a harbour, a castle ruin and a handful of houses on the Tipperary shore, yet it is one of the most popular stops on the lake. You can moor in three places: the old stone harbour, a cut-stone quay of about 1780 with steps, iron bollards and high walls where ladders help you ashore; the newer floating jetties just outside it, which take most visiting cruisers; and a small council harbour that is usually full of local boats. Waterways Ireland lists toilets, showers, pump-out, shore power and a slipway. Beside the quay stands what is left of the O'Kennedys' 15th-century tower house. Larkins, a thatched bar and restaurant two minutes from the jetties, serves food and hosts traditional music, and Ciss Ryan's is the village's other pub. There is a picnic and barbecue park with a playground and an accessible woodland trail along the shore.
