About Youghal Bay
Youghal Bay opens off the Tipperary shore between Dromineer and Garrykennedy, in the parish of Youghalarra. Its old quay was once used to land turf brought across from the Clare side of the lake; today it is a local swimming place with a ladder and a diving board, and the Lough Derg Blueway paddling route from Dromineer to Garrykennedy passes along this shore. A small harbour lies close by, but we have no reliable information yet on its depth, its berths or who looks after it, and there are no services. Until it has been checked on site, treat Youghal as a daytime stop for a swim in settled weather and carry on to Garrykennedy or Dromineer for the night, both within an hour's cruising.
